Zinc Activation in CONCLUSIONS
- Sphalerite can be floated without activation with copper sulphate. This could help to diminish de consume of copper sulphate.
- Iron in the form of either shell liners or grinding media, or both supply ferric and ferrous ions that can promote zinc flotation out of its circuit.
- The oxidant environment has an important effect in flotation. Changes in oxidant conditions affect electrochemical conditions that occur from grinding and finish in the flotation circuit.
- If the iron in the ore diminishes, the reaction between sphalerite and grinding medium is facilitated. This originates the formation of OH- ions which increase the pH of the pulp facilitating hydrophobic films on sphalerite and promoting the adsorption of collector on its surface.
- The right addition of sodium cyanide lets make a good control of sphalerite activation. This is due the effect of cyanide ions on iron compounds. The dosage must be careful, mainly when copper sulphides are the minerals to be float in first instance. But, also thinking in no depresses sphalerite in its flotation circuit.
- Iron in solution can catalyze the oxidation of xanthate and dixanthogen produced can be absorbed firmly on sphalerite.
- The right dosage of cyanide can control the activation of sphalerite. The dosage can be many times careful because copper sulphides can de depressed and will float in the zinc circuit.
