Mining Equipments India

Mining is one of the industries in India that contribute significantly to its economy. Minerals have been mined in India for a very long time, but the industry only came into more modern mining techniques after the country gained independence. A large variety of minerals is exported by India. Many of these minerals are found in abundance due to the areas of great geographical diversity covered by the country.
India has significant sources of coal, titanium ore, bauxite, diamonds, limestone, petroleum, chromite and natural gas. It is the world’s second largest producer of chromite, and ranks third in the world for the production of lignite and coal. Twelve percent of the world’s thorium comes from India, and this mineral is exported to Japan, the United States, and United Kingdom. India is one of the largest producers of iron in the world, and this too, is exported to several other countries, along with manganese.
Mining requires mining equipment, not just for the ease of the operation, but also for safety and health reasons. The type of equipment needed depends greatly on the type of mining being carried out. Surface mining is where minerals are found and extracted easily from gravel or loose stone found under the ground, or in bodies of water. Simple equipment such as metal detectors, sluice boxes, pans and washers will be the type of machinery required.
However, subsurface or underground mining is more complicated as it involves mines that go thousands of kilometers underground and have several tunnels and shafts. The conditions of these mines are difficult as large amounts of heat are generated by the processes involved, which make working conditions unbearable. Special kinds of refrigerators are needed in order to cool the air. Constantly breaking away at rock also means that a large amount of dust is present, which is a health hazard as it can go into the lungs of workers and cause a disease called silicosis. To prevent this, mechanisms need to be in place to constantly wet the dust that forms.
Outside the mines, even more mining equipment is needed. Trucks, shovels and cranes are required to move large deposits of ore and rocks away from the mine to the place where they are processed. Processing plants make constant use of large crushers, reactors, mills, blasters and roasters to combine mineral rick materials and to extract the desired minerals or metals from the ore.
Transportation within and around mines also requires specialized mining equipment. Trams usually transport miners, minerals and metals into and out of mines. More modern mines make use of underground lifts that can carry miners in and out of mines, and are also used to transport rock, waster materials and other machinery into mines. There are trucks that are made especially for use in mines, because they have the ability to turn while inside a mine. The right mining equipment can make all the difference between a smoothly operated mine and a dangerous one with many hazards that will likely be shut down.
