The power required to drive crushing rolls varies with the hardness of the material, capacity, and ratio of reduction. On hard material the power consumption, for a reduction ratio of 4: 1, will average approximately one horsepower-hour per ton of hourly output; for example, a machine producing 50 tons per hr, handling 2-in. feed, and set to lh-in. discharge spacing, will require approximately 50 hp to drive it. For soft, friable material this figure may be reduced as much as 50 percent. The power will vary approximately in direct relation to the reduction ratio. |
