The above capacity tables list the most common Marcy rod mill sizes. Capacities are based on medium hard ore with mill operating in open circuit under wet grinding conditions. To construct these tables, Mine and Smelter first gathered comparative data from operations of open-end rod mills of the same size. From analysis of this ata, the empirical used for these tables was derived. For dry grinding, speeds are reduced and capacities dropped between 30% to 50%.
