Frothing Properties

Xanthates are substantially nom-frothing and therefore, may be employed in any quantity necessary without the problem of excess frothing.

This makes it possible, by using non-collecting frothing agents in conjunction with xanthates, to achieve separate and highly flexible control of collecting and frothing – an advantage in maintaining proper flotation conditions during ore changes.

Applications

Xanthates are adaptable to the flotation of substantially all sulfide minerals and the metallic elements such as copper, nickel, lead, zinc, silver, and gold, as well as a number of the oxidized minerals of lead and copper. Flotation is usually conducted in a alkaline pulp, although weakly acidic pulp also may be used. Xanthates tend to decompose more rapidly in an acid media.
