Cobalt is a rare which is usually found in small amounts associated with nickel minerals. Much of the commerce is produced from other ores as a by-produced from other ores as a byproduct. The United States produces little or no cobalt. The metals is produced from ores found in Queensland, Australia; the Belgian Congo; and also from the silver ores of Cobalt, Canada.
Cobalt it to some extent used in high speed and in an alloy with chromium and tungsten, known as stellite. Also used in the form of the oxide as a blue pigment in making glass and pottery.
