Given below are approximate capacities for wet grinding in representative Marcy CPD mills. Such capacities are expressed in dry tons per hour passed on – ¾” x 4 mesh screened feed of medium hard gravel. Mill discharge is generally less than 5% - 4 mesh in wet open circuit operations. Expected dry grinding capacities would be approximately 30 to 50% less.

Grinding may be accomplished wet or dry. Feed is from both ends and is discharged at the center through rectangular discharge ports equally spaced around the mill periphery. The discharge ports are in a separate ring between the shell halves. Due to material being fed from both ends. Rods are bread about the

same at e cha end and main essentially parallel. The resultant product is more cubical than the product from other sand producing machines and contains a minimum of fine material. The fact that the particles only travel half the mill length makes the CPD rod mil an outstanding example of the Marcy advocated practice of rapid removal of finished material.

Maintenance cost for CPD rod mill is often lower than that of other sand producing machines. The principal wear is confined to the inexpensive steel rods. Reduction ratios to 4:1.
