How to explore for poly metallic deposits with precious metals.

Veins are not very wide, but its longitude is important. This aspect makes difficult to mine the deposit due to the excessive dilution that can be obtained after each blasting. This concept can change with a future survey of the deeper parts of the deposit. Thus, it is possible point the following ideas:

  • Topography indicates a possible existence of narrow veins in certain parts of the ore body where the precious metal content could be very interesting.
  • Samples taken for metallurgical tests reported precious metal content similar to other mining operations of the country.
  • It is very important the exploration and metallurgical behaviour of deeper zones of the deposit. If the mineralization were better than first samples, dykes would be mined in big magnitude. In this way, reserves can increase its life, costs can be lower, and plant capacity can be optimized.
  • The geological model of the deposit verifies the existence of veins in deeper zones which were formed during the Paleozoic era.
  • The metallurgical complexity of the ore indicated that it is necessary to employ combined methods in order to get high recoveries of precious metals.
  • The main mineralization zones are Maria Teresa, Carmen, Maria I, Santa Rosa, San Fernando, and San Julian. Also, it is possible to mention the existence of new mineralized structures.

EXPLORATION PROGRAM
Exploration will be step by step and the continuity depends of the results obtained in the previous step. The following items must be considered:

  • Explore with major intensity Maria Teresa, Carmen, and Maria II veins. The idea is focused on a potential of more than 30,000 tons.
  • In small scale can be explored other areas such as Catarata, Fragua and Cedruyoc.
  • If the previous items are positive, the exploration program will be extended until Carhuanco and Santa Rosa areas so that all the mineralization can be studied as one body.

CONCLUSION
Geological, mining, and metallurgical studies indicate two alternatives. First, work in small scale trying to get a lead concentrate than can be traded. The second alternative involves a combined method of flotation and cyanidation. The lead concentrate can be sold and the leaching process can let get a Dore bar. If we consider a plant treating 50 tpd, can be possible produce 145 kg silver and 3 kg gold per month.
