  • Greenockite,CdS.

Greenockite is the only cadmium minerals of importance and this is very rare in occurrence. The cadmium of commerce is obtained from zinc ores that carry a small amount of the metal. Practically the entire output of cadmium in the United States comes from the zinc ores of the Joplin district, Missouri, which frequently contain some 0.3 per cent of the metal.
